Jamie Bernoi, LPCA

about Jamie Bernoi
My name is Jamie Bernoi, LPCA. Charleston has been home for the past 19 years. I completed my undergraduate degree at the College of Charleston in 2015 and earned my Masters in Clinical Counseling from The Citadel in 2024.
I firmly believe we have the right to heal. It’s painful and isolating to think we must deal on our own. I understand how it feels to be lost, searching for what makes life purposeful. Together we can see what’s working for you and what’s not, by taking your whole self (mind, body, spirit, emotions) into account to optimize your wellness.
My approach to therapy is grounded in CBT. I can help if you are an adult (18+) experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD/trauma, or a life transition. Our work together will center around acceptance, mindfulness, and compassion. My goal for you includes unlocking compassion for yourself by quieting that inner critic. How do you achieve that? We’ll identify your personal goals and strengths and move from there.
In pursuit of your goals, we will work to uncover helpful and unhelpful behaviors, identifying thoughts as thoughts and not facts, exploring your values and how to live in line with those values, developing healthy coping skills and strategies to include journaling, mindfulness, and emotion regulation.
I provide a safe, non-judgmental space for your individual exploration. I believe that warmth, empathy, and authenticity in the therapeutic relationship is important and necessary. I will bring my true authentic self to the room to work collaboratively with you to find the solutions. It’s your treatment, and we’ll adjust to your needs. Our work together will help you build the skills and confidence in yourself, to look towards the future and say, “I got this.”
